Provision and LocalVision sell digital sign ads

Published on: 2015-02-05

According to this press release:

Provision Interactive Technologies, Inc. ("Provision"), a subsidiary of Provision Holding, Inc. (OTCBB: PVHO), announced today that it has signed an agreement with LocalVision Digital Advertising to bring the company's advertising portfolio to Provision's 3DEO Media Center.

The partnership will bring LocalVision's advertising to Provision's 84 screens, including Fred Meyer Stores, in the greater-Portland area, adding more than 5 million new impressions per month to Provision's screens. LocalVision's top-tier brand advertisers will now be able to feature their messaging on Provision's fast-growing network of 3DEO Media Centers located in retail locations. The advertisements can be in a variety of forms, including 3D holographic videos and digital coupons.

Our take:

Wow, lots of news about 3-D displays lately. And apparently this one is a bona fide commercial operation, which is fairly unique for the field. However, with 84 screens in what sounds like only a single metro area, it's possible that LocalVision is having some trouble selling out ad space on their screens (particularly if it *must* be 3-D, and thus require hefty content creation fees), and is enlisting Provision to help.  Regardless of whether they're having difficulties or not, though, it's a good idea to bring in a firm specifically trained in advertising sales, as that's typically the most challenging task for new digital signage companies to contend with.
