August 30, 2004, FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla.- WireSpring Technologies, a developer of software and technology for interactive kiosks and digital signage systems, today announced the release of FireCast OS 3.0. The new version represents the third generation of the company's proven software platform for narrowcasting and self-service devices, and introduces a number of key features that customers and system integrators have requested.
Extensive optimizations to FireCast OS make this release faster and more compact, while enhancing performance for multimedia-intensive applications. New feature highlights include:
- Streamlined configuration
- New browser architecture based on Mozilla 1.6
- Macromedia Flash 7 support
- Enhanced dial-up modem support
- Ability to limit file downloads and network usage to certain times of day
- Citrix ICA client
- Worldwide time zone support
- Support for ATI video cards with TV output
- Support for Cybertouch/Egalax touchscreens
- Built-in Apache, Perl, and PHP, plus modules for MySQL, PostgreSQL, and Tomcat
Deployments of FireCast OS 3.0 are already underway with several kiosk and digital signage customers, including Transeastern Homes (www.transeasternhomes.com). Transeastern uses FireCast to power customer information kiosks in their new home sales centers. Each customer that enters a Transeastern sales center is prompted to use the kiosk to enter contact details (such as name and address) as well as information on their target price range, purchase timeframe, etc. By capturing this information at the start of the customer lifecycle, Transeastern ensures that each homeowner's expectations are exceeded from initial contact through closing and beyond. The Transeastern deployment is managed by Zimmerman Business Management Systems, a unit of Omnicom's Zimmerman Partners Advertising (www.zadv.com).
FireCast OS 3.0 is available immediately through value-added resellers or direct from WireSpring. FireCast ClientCenter subscribers may download the new version immediately, free of charge, or may request a complimentary remote upgrade.
