Intro Why FireCast? FireCast OS ClientCenter Media Appliance Status Monitor Packages Private Label/OEM Demo

What makes FireCast unique?

There are hundreds of digital signage and kiosk providers. Here's why customers are choosing FireCast for their networks.

Our Linux-based platform is reliable and secure.

FireCast was purpose-built to run in harsh public environments, where security threats often lie around every corner. In contrast, most competing products are pieced together from regular desktop operating system like Windows or Red Hat. This is why our competitors require weekly (or even daily) reboots and ongoing security patches, while our systems have been known to run for years without rebooting or emergency security fixes.

FireCast runs on standard PC hardware or our Media Appliance.

Whether you provide your own computers or use our Media Appliance, any technician can service the units using parts that are readily available worldwide. In other words, if something goes wrong 5 years from now, you'll probably be able to repair it without having to replace an entire system or spending days looking for parts.

What you try is what you get -- no bait-and-switch.

With FireCast, the evaluation version is the exact same product that our customers are purchasing and deploying today. This ensures that if the software meets your needs, there won't be any surprises after the purchase.

FireCast works with your favorite browser and OS - even if it's not Windows.

All content scheduling and management uses a simple web-based interface, with no complex programs to install. Plus, you're free to access the management software in your favorite browser and operating system - we don't lock you into IE on Windows. Even if this doesn't matter to you, chances are it will be a big deal to your ad agency or other groups involved in the content creation and distribution process

Our remote updating system is incredibly secure and firewall-friendly.

All updating uses HTTP over port 80 with 448-bit encryption keys, and no network changes are required at the host sites. Many vendors rely on insecure methods like FTP, or require the host sites to make changes to their networks.

We're easy to live with, now and in the future.

Our player software installs in under 10 minutes, and you don't need to worry about installing Windows or other programs like antivirus software. Since FireCast is designed for remote management, we handle all the ongoing upgrades online, without any manual patches or Windows updates.

Create playlists with the scheduling method that suits you best.

Our scheduling system can handle either linear, loop-based playlists or customized, rules-based playlists (e.g. "run this ad in the afternoon from January 1-15, but only until it reaches 500 playbacks").

Manage your team with our multi-user remote management suite.

Our rules-based account management means that you can delegate responsibility to the appropriate branches of your company, or even have third-party advertisers upload their content and perform other tasks.

Our screen layout system is flexible and robust.

Most other products are limited to 3-5 areas with one type of content per area, while FireCast gives you total flexibility to schedule up to 24 areas, with any combination of content you want.

We help you save time and money with industry-standard content and tools.

FireCast can display all standard content formats like MPEG-4 video, Flash, and still images, along with live video and RSS/data feeds. Since it's designed to work with popular design tools like Flash and Photoshop, we don't force you to learn a proprietary authoring tool. And just like you'd expect, FireCast powers your display at its native resolution, either in normal or portrait/pivot mode.

WireSpring is established and profitable.

Many vendors in this business are startups and rely on outside investors to keep them going. We've been around since 2000 and are financially stable.

We're here to educate our customers, not compete with you for deals.

A lot of vendors end up competing with their customers when the vendor decides to deploy their own network. In contrast, WireSpring's focus is on educating our customers to help you deploy cutting-edge networks, and we commit significant resources towards industry research and education.

The same FireCast software can be used for both kiosks and digital signs.

While most digital signage products can't support interactive applications, FireCast is widely used for successful programs like prize-win and instant-credit kiosks, and it's all managed from the same ClientCenter interface. Your systems can even talk to one another, such as having a kiosk that controls the content on a nearby plasma display.

Our international reach means you're not limited to just one country.

FireCast deployments extend worldwide, from the US and Canada to Latin America, Europe, Australia, and China. Our global partner network also provides localized support in Spanish, German, Swedish and other languages.

WireSpring gives you superior tech support and extended hours.

Customer inquiries are handled promptly and efficiently -- no more waiting days for a response. And our support department is open more hours than virtually any competitor, with optional 24x7x365 plans available.

As you evaluate various providers, we challenge you to find any other company that can provide all of these benefits.

Promoting industry growth
WireSpring is committed to helping grow the digital signage and self-service kiosk industries, and we dedicate substantial resources to research and customer education via our Blog & Learning Center. While many of our competitors would prefer to keep this knowledge a secret, we believe that open access to information benefits everyone in the long run.

Beware the bait-and-switch
WireSpring created quite a stir in 2001 when we launched the industry's first Linux software that could run on virtually any computer, without the need for special hardware appliances. Since then, some competitors have started using Linux in a "bait-and-switch" scheme, where they tell prospective users that a Linux version is available, but only let you evaluate the Windows version. In many cases, the "Linux version" is an off-the-shelf Linux distribution that wasn't designed for digital signage or kiosk applications. The resulting product is hard to install and manage, and suffers from security and reliability problems. Our advice: make sure you get to evaluate the exact version you plan to deploy. Otherwise, you may be stuck with an unpleasant surprise when deployment time rolls around.
